Bloxorz Unblocked — Play Free Online

Drawing & Physics

Bloxorz by DX Interactive: roll a two-tile block with the arrow keys over 33 floating stages, trip switches, mind orange tiles, and drop it into the hole.

Bloxorz unblocked: play Bloxorz online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.

A puzzle about rolling one block

Bloxorz is a block-rolling brain teaser that Damien Clarke designed for his studio DX Interactive back when Flash ruled browser games. The file that loads here still carries a "presented by" credit for AddictingGames, and it is run through the Ruffle emulator so no plugin is needed. The title screen offers New Game, Load Stage, Sound and Credits.

Everything happens on a grid of tiles hanging in a black void. You steer a rusty, brick-shaped block, and your target on each stage is a square opening in the floor. The block has to end up standing on its end over that opening so it slides through. Tip it past the edge of the grid and it tumbles off into the dark.

Moving the block

The four arrow keys roll the block one turn in the direction you press. Because it is two tiles long and one tile wide, rolling it alternates between two shapes: upright, filling a single square, and lying down, covering a pair of squares. A route that looks short on the map can be impossible if the block arrives lying flat when it needs to be upright, so much of each puzzle is about the order of rolls rather than the distance.

From a certain point the game hands you two half-size cubes instead of one long block. You move one cube at a time, switching between them, and when you roll them into neighbouring squares they snap together again.

Pieces that change the board

The game runs to 33 stages. Fresh mechanics keep being introduced along the way:

PieceWhat triggers it
Circle (soft) switchAny contact, whether the block lies on it or stands on it
X (hard) switchOnly the block standing upright
Bracket-shaped switchTeleports the block and divides it into two cubes
Orange tileCollapses if the block stands upright on it; lying flat is safe

Switches can do different things from stage to stage, so pay attention to which tiles appear or vanish each time one is pressed.

Saving your place

Every stage displays a passcode in the upper right corner. Pick Load Stage on the title screen, type that code in, and you start right back at the matching level.

Advice for tricky stages

  • The half cubes are too light to press anything except a circle switch. Join them back together whenever an X switch stands between you and the exit.
  • Before rolling onto an orange tile, check which way up the block will land there; only an upright landing breaks it.
  • Look at the exit hole and decide which direction the block must arrive from, then plan the route backwards from there.

The game was made for a keyboard, so it needs a computer rather than a phone or tablet.

Questions about Bloxorz

Is Bloxorz unblocked at school?

Bloxorz runs in an ordinary browser tab from drawclimber.com, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

How many stages does Bloxorz have?

The game runs to 33 stages, with a fresh switch or tile type showing up every so often to change how you plan.

How do I continue Bloxorz from a later level?

Each stage shows a passcode in its upper right corner. Pick Load Stage from the title screen, key in the code, and that level opens again.

What do the orange tiles do?

An orange tile breaks under the block when it stands upright on it, but it is safe to cross while the block is lying flat.

Who created Bloxorz?

Damien Clarke designed it for his studio DX Interactive as a Flash game; this copy plays through the Ruffle emulator.
